Richard Maurice Reid

On January 1, 2021 while at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago, Ricky went home to the loving arms of his mother Juliet and father Richard. 

 

(Ricky) Maurice Reid was born of Juliet Cook-Bey and Richard Ira Reid on May 21, 1958. Ricky attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School, Lane Tech and Robert A. Waller/Lincoln Park High School where he graduated. He attended UIC  and majored in Political Science. Due to the magnitude of his capacity of intellect, he effortlessly became the family genius;  which would then earn him the endearing title and monicker of “Einstein”

Ricky was employed with the prominent role in transportation with the Chicago Transit Authority. He was also actively involved in the political field, fighting for the rights and injustices he saw in his communities. Leading him to be eminent in advocating the importance of voting, especially in the under privileged communities. Ricky continued tirelessly volunteering his services to the communities in which he resided, always looking out for others with open arms and a big heart.

 

Unfortunately, Ricky suffered in private with his numerous health complications, his pride of a champion wouldn’t allow for any pity or sympathy on his part.

 

His parents Richard and Juliet precede him in his transition. He leaves to cherish his life,  sisters Carmen Davis (IL) and Donna Reid-Bey (WI);  a brother Anthony (Chris) (Canada); many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. Including his special cousins Laura and Melvin (IL). 

 

The Family would like to extend their appreciation to Holy Cross Hospital and the Logan Square Funeral Home in Chicago.

Due to COVID 19 the Family of Ricky will hold his memorial  at a later and safer date.
